My mother (70yrs, very active, no real symptoms broke her femur on July 7th while tying her shoelaces. Biopsy confirmed cancer cells in the bone. Mri showed 4 small lesions (under 1.5cm) in her lungs and several in her spine and 2 in her head. She just finished radiation treatments for all bone and the 2 small brain lesions. First there was discussion of possible immunotherapy with/without chemo but per yesterday’s discussion by phone with her Oncologist it is now recommended to only do IV chemo for now to start,based on the EGFR marker!? We have an appt with this oncologist on Aug 27th to go over all the results and game plan. I have been doing tons of research online since her diagnosis as this is all new to me. I’m hoping to come across something very helpful that I can bring up with her Oncologist on aug 27th.

Thank you. My mother will be starting her chemotherapy/immunotherapy treatments very soon. We have a follow up appt this Friday with the oncologist to schedule a date. She will be getting 2 chemotherapy drugs and 1 immunotherapy drug via IV every 3 weeks. Carbolatin, Alimta and Keytruda

Best hopes for great results with this treatment! I presume her tumor tissue tested negative for genomic alterations like EGFR, ALK, and ROS1?

Because her tumor tested negative for all gene alterations, she is not eligible to take targeted therapy. In that case, the chemo-immunotherapy combination she will receive is standard of care.
